Gateshead Bio Diversity

My commission was to capture images that reflect the increasing areas of bio diversity in the Gateshead area. Various grassed areas throughout the Borough are being left un-cut to welcome new forms of wildlife. The images are to appear in an article published in The Gateshead Housing Company Magazine.

Fortunately the sun was shining brightly and there were plenty of great areas to choose from!

Gateshead

Today I went to take pictures of the grounds of Birtley Crematorium and Saltwell Park/ Towers. The images are to be used on displays and LCD screens for Gateshead Council.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't great but the floral displays in all above mentioned areas are stunning. The grounds of Birtley Crem' have a new memorial garden full of roses.

Following this trip a few days later I went to the local Waste and Recycling centre on a similar mission. Dressed in a very attractive hi-vis jacket, big safety boots and a ill fitting hard hat, I had pretty low expectations of the images that might be available at a site that is...well, full of rubbish...but actually it was full of loads of interesting colours and shapes. The sun was beating down which also helped (despite the smell!!). A refuse truck appeared, and also a crushing tractor, so some action shots were also taken!
